DENPASAR, Bali (BPN) – Deputy Chairman of Bali COVID-19 Task Force Dewa Made Indra announced 17 people have recovered from the virus as of Thursday, May 7, bringing the total number to 183.
“There are 17 additional recoveries today, consist of 10 migrant workers (PMI) and seven non-PMIs,” Dewa Indra said in Denpasar on Thursday.
Besides, Dewa Indra also announced 10 new confirmed cases, bringing the total number to 287. “There are 10 new confirmed cases. Two are PMIs, one got infected from other regions in the country, and seven local transmissions,” he continued.
From the 287 confirmed cases, most are imported cases, and 108 local transmissions.
As for patients under treatment (active cases) amounting to 100, they are treated at 11 hospitals and quarantine sites in Bali.
To speed up the detection of the infected, two additional laboratories for Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) COVID-19 examination finally operated in Bali on Wednesday.
The two laboratories are at Udayana University (Unud) Hospital and the medical faculty of Warmadewa University. Previously Bali only has one lab for PCR examination at Sanglah Hospital
Bali Governor Wayan Koster said the lab at Unud Hospital has two PCR equipment and it can check around 300 swab samples per day. While the lab at Warmadewa University can check 40 samples a day.
“With these two additional labs, now Bali will be able to examine 450 swab samples in a day. Besides, asymptomatic confirmed cases (OTG) can be tracked faster, ” Koster said on Wednesday.
INDONESIA COVID-19 UPDATE
Meanwhile, the Government of Indonesia reported 338 new confirmed cases, bringing the total number to 12,776.
“There are also 64 additional recoveries today, so the total number of recovered patients have reached 2,381,” said Achmad Yurianto, the government spokesperson for COVID-19.
Yuri also announced 35 deaths as of Thursday, bringing the total fatalities to 930.
