MANGUPURA, Bali (BPN) – I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali, announces the addition of a new route to Mainland China. On Sunday, April 13, 2025, Transnusa officially launched flight route connecting Denpasar and Guangzhou.
With this addition, the number of direct flights to Mainland China has increased to an average of seven flights per day, serving four major cities: Shanghai, Shenzhen, Xiamen, and Guangzhou.
The direct Transnusa flight to Guangzhou operates using an A320 aircraft with a capacity of 174 economy-class seats.
It currently runs four times a week, with plans to increase frequency to daily service—seven times a week—starting in June.
Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, expressed his support for the launch of Transnusa’s new route.
“The launch of this new Transnusa flight is certainly a positive development for Bali’s tourism growth,” he said.
“Moreover, tourists from China represent the second-largest group of international visitors to Bali. As of March, Chinese tourist arrivals reached 136,000, accounting for 9 percent of the total international arrivals at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport. If this trend continues consistently, it will not only strengthen connectivity between Indonesia and China but also bring a multiplier effect for Bali’s tourism and economy,” he added.
Transnusa CEO Bayu Sutanto said in a press release that the Denpasar–Guangzhou route aims to create new opportunities for tourism between the two countries.
“We chose Guangzhou because it is one of China’s largest cities and is known as a hub for business, culture, and tourism, offering a wide range of attractions. Moving forward, we also plan to establish Bali as an operational base for Transnusa,” Bayu stated.
With the addition of Transnusa’s new route, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport has welcomed seven new flights in the first quarter of 2025.
These include five international routes to Perth, Jeddah via Singapore, Darwin, Bangkok, and Shanghai, as well as two domestic routes to Palangkaraya and Manado.
Currently, the airport serves 68 flight routes in total—25 domestic and 43 international—operated by 50 different airlines.
