DENPASAR, Bali (BPN) – Widya Kartika University (Uwika) in Surabaya, East Java, begins to intensively collaborate with several partners, starts from school, the government, and the private sector. This activity is done to spread Uwika’s scholarship program to potential students in Bali and several other regions in Indonesia.
According to Rio Oktora Nanda Putra, the Uwika’s Coordinator of Media and Communication Center, 50 scholarships will be given to selected students in Indonesia. According to Rio, this is part of the University Social Responsibility (USR) program and a series of events throughout the year that will be launched in early 2020.
“One of the activities is traveling to several regions in Indonesia to find the best students to be awarded scholarships to graduate,” Rio said, accompanied by the Uwika’s Media and Cooperation Manager Leonardus Setia Budi Wibowo, Ph.D.
Currently, he continued, Widya Kartika University has three faculties namely engineering, economic and literature with eight study programs. Among them, Mandarin language study programs became the most popular.
“At the moment our Mandarin study program has reached level 6, the level recognized by the world. We are collaborating with an institute that appointed directly by the Chinese government,” he said in Renon, Denpasar, Saturday.
In addition to collaborating with the Chinese government, Uwika also conducts international cooperation with Hong Kong, India, Taiwan, and Malaysia. This makes the university which was established in 1986 becoming more popular towards its quality.
“Our collaboration with several parties abroad are mostly in the field of research and we also sending our students who want to continue their studies to these respected countries,” Rio said.
In the future, Rio added, all study programs at Uwika must provide Mandarin and English lessons. With the mastery of language, many graduates of Widya Kartika can continue their studies or work oversea.
While Leonardus Setia Budi Wibowo said that people in the country to be able to monitor the benefits of this program.
“This program is an effort of Uwika together with the city and or regency government in preparing the best generation to develop and elevate the country’s dignity,” he said.
