JAKARTA (BPN) – The government encourages the professionals of the tourism sector to be optimistic in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic by continuing to prepare year-end holiday packages after the emergency period of Corona is over.
The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Wishnutama Kusubandio said he will prepare an action plan to support the program of shifting the Idulfitri 1441 H collective leave days to the end of the year.
“The public must anticipate the shifting of this Idulfitri 2020 collective leave days by not traveling or postponing the exodus (mudik) during Eid and instead replace it in the year-end. In this emergency period, the government is focusing on the COVID-19 handling and preventing it from spreading,” said Wishnutama in Jakarta, on Monday, as quoted from the ministry’s press release.
The shifting of collective leave days to the year-end is based on the consideration that the COVID-19 has been handled properly. Besides, year-end is also a school holiday period so that families will have sufficient time to plan their holiday.
This is in accordance with the Ministry’s plan which will prioritize the movement of domestic tourists during the recovery period after the COVID-19 pandemic is declared finished by the government.
Wishnutama said the Ministry will collaborate with industry/association and community of tourism and creative economy, by preparing various programs that can benefit the public in their year-end holiday.
“I hope, along with the shifting of the holiday to the end of the year, the pandemic will be over too, so that it can help the affected tourism industry to revive,” Wishnutama said.
