BALI (BPN) – Qantas Airlines has resumed six direct flights from Australia to Bali each week, with more flights to commence in June.
Australia’s Consul-General, Anthea Griffin, welcomes Qantas’ return to Bali. These direct flights, along with those operated by Garuda and Jetstar, are a signal of the strong demand from Australian tourists; they will play an important role in supporting Bali’s economic recovery and the long-standing connections between the two nations’ people.
On 14 April 2022, Anthea Griffin, and Senior Qantas Official, Simon Smith, welcomed Qantas’ first direct flight to Bali since borders were closed at the beginning of the pandemic.

“I am optimistic that we will exceed the pre-pandemic flow of people in both directions as we recover from the COVID-19 and as the Australia-Indonesia aviation market becomes stronger – a great reason for our celebration of the first Qantas’ flight this evening,” Anthea Griffin said.
Qantas’ return marks a milestone in restoring the deep and broad people-to-people links between Australia and Bali.
Beyond increasing the flow of tourists, it will reconnect families and loved ones across both countries, as well as support student and worker mobility, business, and vital cargo links.
Before the pandemic, Bali was one of the most popular destinations for Australians; with more than 1.2 million direct arrivals to Bali in 2019, accounting for more than a quarter of Bali’s international tourism revenue.
Indonesian tourists, too, were increasingly drawn to Australia, with more than 220,000 visiting Australia in 2019.
Qantas will operate three weekly direct flights from Sydney and three from Melbourne. More flights are scheduled to start in June.
Strong demand from Australia has driven an increase from one to 21 direct flights per week between Australia and Bali since the first direct flights in March 2022.
