DENPASAR, Bali (BPN) – Customs Ngurah Rai revealed six attempts to smuggle Narcotics from overseas to Bali from November to December 2019. The attempts were done by six foreigners upon arrival at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.

“Narcotics preparations are smuggled with concealment mode, consisting of cannabis, cocaine, and methamphetamine,” said Head of Customs and Excise Ngurah Rai Himawan Indarjono, on Wednesday, in Tuban, Badung, Bali.

The first case was revealed on 4 November 2019 against Switzerland with the initial RH, 45. He was arrested for trying to smuggle 1.65 grams of cannabis. Officers also found another package brought by RH contained 28.39 grams of cannabis.

The second was carried out on 6 November 2019 against a man with the initial PK ,36, from Thailand who was found in possession of Marijuana weighing of 17.76 grams net. The third was carried out against female passengers with the initial RTEY after found in possession of cocaine weighing 0.35 grams kept in her passport.

The fourth arrest was against PMVV who carrying liquid that suspected to contain Narcotics ingridients type Methamphetamine with a total weight of 77.26 grams. The fifth was conducted to a Hong Kong citizen with the initial PKH, 43, who smuggled Narcotics ingridients inside modified luggages, where officers found 13 packages containing white crystal with a total weight of 3,230 grams of Methampetamine.

The last prevention was carried out to a man with the initial MCK (19) carrying white crystal weighing 4000 grams. The white crystal were suspected to be Narcotics ingridients for Methampetamine.

“We have succeeded to overcome six narcotics smuggling in various ways this year. Most of them were done by foreigners,” Himawan Indarjono said.
The six perpetrators allegedly violated the country’s Law on Customs and Narcotics, and might face death penalty, life imprisonment, or a maximum sentence of five to 20 years and a maximum fine of IDR 10,000,000,000.
