JIMBARAN, Bali (BPN) – Waste problem is a critical issue in countries around the world including in Indonesia where the problem has always been highlighted and makes the country become the world’s second plastic waste contributor to the ocean after China. In order to tackle this problem and to welcome the 2018 World Cleanup Day, on September 15, Jimbaran Bay Beach Resort & Spa was appointed to coordinate the clean up activity themed Suksma Bali, around the Jimbaran area.
The theme was as an expression of gratitude of the Balinese people and Bali tourism workers for the island and as an act of saving Bali from trash.
The World CleanUp Day commemoration began at 6.30 A.M followed by several components of the society and tourism workers and entrepreneurs with a total participants reaching 1072 people at Kedonganan Beach. The clean up activity managed to collect 0.5 tons of each organic waste and non organic waste. The activity then continued with Maumere exercise and prizes for the participants.
Besides being followed by Jimbaran Bay Beach Resort & Spa, Prabu Management, this activity was also participated by PT. Jimbaran Raya, Crystal Kuta, Bali Paradise Heritage Villa, Watermark, Ayana Resort & Spa Bali, The Cuisine, Aroma Bumbu Bali, Matahari Café, Ayola Bali Jimbaran, Kedai Nata 21, Kedonganan Veterinary, Puri Bambu, Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts, Karma Kandara, Intercontinental Bali, Keraton Jimbaran, Belmond Jimbaran Puri, Gendis Villa Jimbaran, WHDI, Satpol PP, dr. Romy Associates, Puskesmas 1 Kuta, Coco Mart and attended also by stydents of Junior High School 1 of South Kuta, and Elementary Schools 1, 5, 7, 8 of Jimbaran.
Representative of Bendesa (village chief) of Kedonganan Adi Minarta expressed his gratitude to all stakeholders in the Kedonganan Beach area who have welcomed and carried out the invitation the activity to clean Bali from Trash and thanked the Management of Jimbaran Bay Beach Resort & Spa for initiating this cleanliness movement by involving and inviting various components of the Kedonganan and Jimbaran communities, and entrepreneurs to joint this movement.
“Let’s continue the teamwork of Entrepreneurs, Governments, and Communities to maintain the cleanliness and preservation of the Kedonganan Beach environment, so that Kedonganan will become a World-class Tourism Destination,” he said.
Christian Gumala as the General Manager of Jimbaran Bay Beach Resort & Spa also shared the same statement, that cleaning the Kedonganan beach from waste is a routine activity that has been carried out by the hotel twice a month.
This routine activity, he continued, involving all staffs and managements of Jimbaran Bay Beach Resort & Spa to clean up garbage along Kedonganan Beach, to maintain and create environmental cleanliness and comfort for foreign and local tourists visiting Bali, this will have a positive impact, the value of long-term investment and of course to build the image of Bali as the main destination for tourists around the world.
“Hopefully this program able to reduce garbage and restore the beautiful face of Bali that free of garbage,” he hoped.
