DENPASAR, Bali (BPN) – Bali Police’s General Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimum) revealed the result of Cipta Kondisi (public safety operation) carried out by the task force of Bali Police for the eradication of street crime ahead of the IMF-World Bank meetings which will take place in Bali on October. This was revealed during the Press Conference at Ditreskrimum office Bali Police HQ on Friday, September 14.
Director of the Bali Police Crime Unit Kombes Pol. Andi Fairan said that the operation done by the Task Force is held from July 6 to October 20, 2018.
During the 70 days of the operation, the police managed to uncover as many as 140 cases, namely thievery as many as seven cases, curat ( stealing by force) 86 cases, Curas (stealing by violent) 13 cases, mistreatment as many as 7 cases, and blackmailing carried out by mass organization (ormas) in Bali as many as six cases.
Of the 140 cases, the officers managed to arrest 172 suspects, which 33 of them were shot after they tried to escape. “If they fight back against the officers, we will take a more firm actions,” Andi said.
Andi explained the evidences secured during the 70 days of the operation are motorcycle, vehicle registration document (STNK), cellphone, wallet, crowbar, screwdriver, watches, jewelries, wrench, camera, cash, sangkur (military combat knife).
Meanwhile Head of Bali Police Public Relations Kombes Pol. Hengky Widjaja, said that the objective of the operation is ahead of the IMF-World Bank meetings which will take place in Bali on October 2018, so that it can be run safely, smoothly and orderly.
