DENPASAR, Bali (BPN) – Bali Authorities followed up the current situation of high tide that occurred at Southern beaches in Bali by securing and evacuating the community and tourist who visiting some beaches especially in Badung Regency, South Bali.

On the occasion, Sat Polair Badung (water police unit) under IPTU Jiwa Antara deploying all personnel in the coastal area starting from Petitenget Beach, Nelayan Beach and Batu Bolong Beach Canggu, Echo Beach and Seseh beach.

The deployment was to monitor fishermen and tourists and suggested them not to do any activities near the sea considering that incident might happen in this high tide situation

This step also following the official statement from Directorate General of Sea Transport of Transportation Ministry related to bad weather in Badung Strait which the tide is estimated to reach 4 – 5 meters. This condition is predicted to occur from July 24 to July 26, 2018.

“We continue to give explanation to fishermen and tourists not to do any activities at sea considering the current weather is very bad, the wave is estimated as high as 4 to 5 meters and very dangerous,” IPTU Jiwa Antara said.

Meanwhile at East Bali, Abang District police under Karangasem Police evacuated tourists who stayed near local beach. Led by Abang District police chief I Nyoman Wiranata, the evacuation was held towards foreign tourists who stayed at a villa on Melasti beach, Abang, Karangasem Regency, on Wednesday.

The evacuation is done considering the location of the villa was damaged due to the high tide that began at 07.00 a.m. Tourists were then invited to seek a safer place to stay.

Nyoman Wiranata reported that the high tide causing no casualties, but some villas close to the beach are damaged because of it.

“Related to the current situation on the high tide, we urge both citizens and foreign and local tourists not to do any activities close to the beach, for safety and security,” Nyoman Wiranata said.
