DENPASAR, Bali (BPN) – One of Bali’s leading painters Ida Bagus Indra holds an exhibition displaying 180 of his works. The exhibition is held for two weeks starting Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Grya Drupadi, Renon, Denpasar.
“A total of 180 works from three different categories will be on display; dance series, nude series and all series. These are my latest works made throughout 2017,” Indra said on Monday.
Indra described most of his paintings are in Expressive style which makes him more free in expressing his feeling.
“The expressive style pleases me more, and I can show my work more honestly,” he said.
The curator Arif Bagus Prasetyo, confirmed Indra’s explanation. He pointed at the dancing series where the paintings not just showing the dancers but it is more to the emotion and feeling of when Indra faces a dancer in front of him.
“Similarly to the nude series which also feature works inspired by the Kamasutra. This category’s paintings shows expression of the captured emotion and feeling, thus making Indra’s paintings not vulgar and remain in the path of beauty.This is what makes Indra’s works unique because it evokes sensory sensations in the form of paintings,” he explained.
Meanwhile Nicolaus Fransiskus as Director of Zen Nagrisco Utama as the organizer said that the exhibition is as an open exhibition, but visitors must make an appointment first with the committee because the invitation is limited.
