DENPASAR, Bali (BPN) – Australia’s Consul-General in Bali, Jo Stevens, visited MI Karakter Mutiara Bunda school in Denpasar to celebrate Indonesia’s National Education Day and to highlight Australia and Indonesia’s strong partnership in education.
During the visit, Consul-General Stevens read a children’s book with students, which was co- authored by Australian writer, Nick Molodysky, and Indonesian writer Karina Santoso and discussed their favourite meals and books, and met with the principal and teachers involved in the BRIDGE Program.
The BRIDGE School Partnerships Program is an innovative education program that establishes school partnerships between school communities in Indonesia and Australia.
The program builds educators’ professional knowledge, capabilities and skills, and students collaborate on projects, practise language skills and develop lifelong friendships with their partner school.
The BRIDGE program is committed to the principles of Gender Equality, Diversity and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), and these principles are incorporated into all aspects of program implementation.
MI Karakter Mutiara Bunda has been part of the BRIDGE Program since 2021, partnering with Our Lady Star of the Sea Primary School in Victoria, Australia.
The visit wrapped up with students enthusiastically taking part in a fun quiz, with Australia- themed prizes for those who guessed the correct answer.
