Australian Consulate-General in Bali Holds Gathering with Media on World Press Freedom Day

DENPASAR, Bali (BPN) – Australia’s Consul-General in Bali, Jo Stevens, hosted a lunch with local media representatives to mark World Press Freedom Day, celebrated on 3 May each year.

The Consul-General welcomed media representatives from print, TV, radio and online media outlets from around Bali. Head of the Publications team, Public Relations Office of the Bali Provincial Government also joined the lunch.

Consul-General Stevens remarked that the day was “a day for us to celebrate the media representatives around the world working hard to deliver top-quality news in a professional and transparent way,” she said.

“Australia supports the development of a strong, professional and sustainable media sector in partner countries, including in the Indo-Pacific.”

This year, Australia and Indonesia are celebrating 75 years of diplomatic relations. The Australian Consulate-General has a busy program of activities throughout the year in Bali, NTB and NTT, aimed at further strengthening the bilateral relationship and people-to-people ties.
