DENPASAR, Bali (BPN) – One of the biggest culinary events in Bali, Ubud Food Festival (UFF) will again be held this year on April, 13 to 15, theme Generation Innovation. On its fourth year, UFF will further lifts the creation and innovation of the young chefs in Bali in particular and Indonesia in general.
“The theme is a form of appreciation for the young generation of Indonesia who now brings a lot of innovation into the culinary industry,” said Kadek Purnami as General Manager of UFF during a press conference in Denpasar on Thursday.
Kadek Purnami explained that the youth is now undeniably changing the culinary landscape in Indonesia and pushing the economic boost in various fields to a better direction.
In 2018, she continued, UFF again will brings the famous culinary icons of Indonesia and from several other countries to share their experience also show their skills, and cooperate with restaurants, food producers, culinary industry players, entrepreneurs, and food lovers.
“UFF will also creates cultural collaboration especially Balinese culture by inviting guests to visit Gianyar traditional night market, and traditional lawar and babi guling (suckling pig) making, and we will explain the story behind it, because we believe every food has its own story,” she explained.
Meanwhile, Ketut Suardana, Chairman of Mudra Swari Saraswati Foundation, a non-profit foundation that oversees the UFF, said the festival will provide a wider space for young people to develop their careers.
“UFF can bring impact and profit to local chef so that Indonesia can become world culinary center and hopefully UFF 2018 will also brings many tourists to come to Bali,” he said.
Ubud Food Festival 2018 will be held for three days and is packed with various programs, both paid and free, such as cooking demos, workshops, culinary tours, food markets, film screenings, music performances and discussion panels related to the culinary industry .
This Culinary Festival is planned to present 100 chefs including celebrity chefs. UFF 2018 also targets a significant visitor increase where last year the number of visitors reached 9000 people, while this year is targeted to reach 12 thousand visitors.
