DENPASAR, Bali (BPN) – Denpasar TrashStock Festival is back this year by taking the theme of local wisdom of Balinese people who convey their love to the animals through the cultural procession of Tumpek Kandang. Thus, this year all sorts of activities, exhibitions and workshops will be linked to increase the awareness on animals from the danger of plastic waste.
TrashStock Festival 2018 is expected to provide a more critical perspective in terms of art in response to waste issue that has damaged the ecosystem, one of which threatened animal’s habitat.
“This year’s TrashStock festival will be held a week before Tumpek Kandang. We try to appreciate the animals around us that benefit humans. But in fact, many of us forget how tp love animals,” Hendra Arimbawa, Co-Founder of TrashStock said on Tuesday.
TrashStock Festival 2018 will be held on August 4-5 at Kulidan Kitchen & Space, Guwang Village, Gianyar. As in previous years, TrashStock combines musical, artistic and plastic, as well as holding discussions on plastic waste management with artists at the Meet the Creator event that will also presents several stakeholders.
Furthermore, TrashStock will also presents environmentally friendly educational and artistic events. The artists will present their artworks in the form of painting, installation, video, photography and music which all will be wrapped in environmental theme.
“One of them is the installation made by Made Bayak, in form of a shark which is made by using sandal garbage picked up from Sukawati beach, the process takes a month,” Hendra added.
In accordance with the TrashStock jargon; music, artistic and plastic, this two days event also features musical performances that will be enlivened by Balinese musicians namely Geekssmile, Pluto, Lily Of The Valley, Supersoda, The Hillkillies, Antrabez, Cassadaga, Svaha, Spin Sugar, Marco PunxBali, Gia & friends, Alien Child, Nymphea, Matilda, dan Krisna Floop.
