KUTA, Bali (BPN) – Samudera Indonesia to hold the Rip Curl GromSearch for three days on 10-12 November 2023 at Halfway Beach Kuta, Bali.
Not only competing with talented seeds for the next generation of Indonesian surfing, Rip Curl and Samudera Indonesia are committed to supporting the surf development of the winners with the main prize: High Performance Coaching Camp by Surfing Australia.
Rip Curl GromSearch first arrived on Victoria’s Jan Juc beach in Australia in 1999 as a one-day surfing competition, which later grew into a series of competitions around the world designed specifically for surfers aged 16 and under, commonly called ‘grommets’.
This national solo competition was created as a fun place for groms to have fun and meet other participants from all over the country while developing their surf game competitively.
To be eligible to compete, participants must be of the specified age as of 31 December 2023. All competition divisions have quota limits, with the number of entries allocated on a first-in-first-serve basis and allowing surfers from all over the country to compete against their peers.
After the registration closed earlier this week, a total of 140 grommets registered as participants in the 2023 Rip Curl GromSearch, divided into 3 age divisions. Boys U-16, U-14 and U-12 divisions and Girls U-16, U-14 and U-12 divisions.
“Rip Curl Indonesia is truly proud to support the new generation of Indonesian surfers by providing them with a platform to enhance their skills and showcase their talents at the National Gromsearch Final,” said Harrison Mann, Head of Marketing & Product at Rip Curl Indonesia
“This year’s National Gromsearch Final, presented by Samudera Indonesia at Halfway Kuta Beach, is larger than ever— a three-day event featuring 140 participants, a boardriders tag team event, and fully funded trips for the winners of the U16 Girls & Boys to the High-Performance Centre in Australia. This opportunity gives them a chance to develop their skills at one of the world’s best surfing training facilities.”
