DENPASAR, Bali (BPN) – Badung Police arrested a woman identified by her initials ER, for trying to smuggle crystal meth to Denpasar Women’s Penitentiary, on Tuesday, April 28.
ER, who also a warden at the penitentiary, attempted to smuggle 1 gram of meth on Tuesday at around 7 PM, into the female prison by concealing it inside a phone charger box.
But, while entering the prison’s gate, the guards grew suspicious after finding a phone charger box owing to its unclean appearance.
The guards then found a gram of meth inside the charger box. At first, ER denied and told the guards it did not belong to her. She’s currently under investigation of Badung Police.
Meanwhile, the National Anti-Drugs Movement (GANNAS) of Bali condemned the attempt of the warden to smuggle crystal meth into the female prison.
“She (the warden) seems to pretend that her action is not a serious crime. The attempt might have been done before,” said Yusdiana MY, Chairperson of GANNAS Bali, in Denpasar, Wednesday.
Head of Law and Advocacy for GANNAS Bali, I Made Somya Putra said, the case needs to be thoroughly investigated related to who ordered the meth.
Even though there are assumptions that the suspected warden is part of a drug dealer syndicate.
“For this reason, the motive must be investigated, and continue to prioritize the principle of equality before the law,” explained Somya.
