JAKARTA (Release/BPN)- Indonesia declares ready to hold the 2018 Asian Games that will start on August 18. The statement was delivered by Vice President Jusuf Kalla at the final meeting of Asian Games Coordination Committee Meeting (Corcom) in Jakarta on Wednesday.
“Our preparation went well and smooth, we are ready to open the Asian Games,” Jusuf Kalla said.
Jusuf Kalla also convinced the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) that the construction process on several venues will soon be completed and has reached the final stage.
However, Jusuf Kalla who is also chairman of the Asian Games Steering Committee, said there are some obstacles that need to be faced, such as related to the target mobility time of athletes from the athlete’s house to the venue of the game. But he remains optimistic that it can be handled soon.
“We have a traffic management control to achieve transportation time targets,” he said.
The Vice President said that the Government of Indonesia has worked hard to prepare the infrastructure and this has been prepared for more than two years.
Further, Jusuf Kalla also requested the support of OCA and other countries to help the success of Asian Games. According to him, this is not only the responsibility of Indonesia but also throughout Asia.
Meanwhile, Director of Building Management of Public Works Ministry Iwan Suptijanto, said that the project’s work has been 93 percent. At the end of June 2018 all projects are targeted already done.
On the other hand, Tourism Minister Arief Yahya said that the Tourism Ministry (Kemenpar) also has contributed to the success of the Asian Games 2018, by intensify the promotion of Asian Games 2018.
“The Asian Games 2018 for successful achievement and economy, because the Asian Games is also a momentum to gain more foreign tourists while promoting Indonesian tourism.That’s why the promotion of the Asian Games has always been a mandatory menu in every event held by Kemenpar,” he said.
