IHGMA Bali Launches GM’s Lab

DENPASAR, Bali (BPN) – The Indonesian Hotel General Manager Association (IHGMA) Bali Chapter has realized its commitment to hold the first batch of an educational program called General Manager Laboratory, abbreviated as GM’s Lab. 

The first batch was attended by 17 hospitality industry professionals and was held at the City of Aventus Denpasar hotel on Friday (July 26).

“GM’s Lab was born to represent the commitment of IHGMA DPD Bali, as the highest professional association in the hotel industry in an effort to improve the competence of hotel GMs to the highest level and professionally deserve global recognition,” said Yoga Iswara, the chairman of IHGMA Bali.

The GM Lab program holds 10 Masterclasses presented by credible proctors who have proven to be successful in leading their respective institutions. 

In addition to providing a theoretical basis, the proctors also share their successful Best Practices. 

The GM’s Lab Masterclass topics include:

  1. Masterclass Leadership & Management
  2. Masterclass Human Capital Management
  3. Masterclass Room Management
  4. Masterclass Sales & Marketing Management
  5. Masterclass Financial Management
  6. Masterclass Food & Beverage Management
  7. Masterclass Strategic Management
  8. Masterclass Sustainable Management

GM’s Lab Coordinator, Bagus Ngurah added, “GM’s Lab participants will also have the opportunity to take part in a series of workshops held at the 2024 International Tourism Leader’s Summit (ITLS) which will be held on September 11 to 13, 2024, where at this event participants who pass the exam will receive the Best Practice Official Recognition in the graduation procession.”

A positive impression was conveyed by one of the GM’s Lab participants. 

“This is the right step initiated by IHGMA Bali where the GM’s Lab program not only presents in-depth knowledge in the field of hospitality but also provides various real examples that have been successfully applied in the industrial world,” said Ayu Setuti during a break in the Masterclass.

Eka Ginastra expressed a similar impression, “I strongly support the GM’s Lab program, finally there is a program that provides an opportunity for department heads who are not yet at the General Manager level to participate in a program that provides space to deepen the knowledge and practice of hospitality management comprehensively.”

Yoga Iswara explained that this Best Practice-based education program is not only intended for IHGMA Bali members but is also open to non-members with the  target participants: General Manager, Hotel Manager, Resort Manager, Villa Manager, Operation Manager, and equivalent. 

Then Head of Department of accommodation businesses who want to learn or increase their knowledge across departments. 

Also Teaching Practitioners, both Lecturers and Instructors of Universities or Tourism Training Institutions who want to increase their knowledge of Hospitality Best Practice.
