KUTA, Bali (BPN) – Indonesian Bartender Association (ABI) of Bali in collaboration with Diageo Indonesia held MixoChef Mixologist Competition 2019 Best of the Best, followed by 15 bartenders and mixologists. The participants were required to work together with a chef to create and pair a cocktail with food at the event held at Sugarsand, Seminyak, on Monday.
The Chairman of ABI Bali Chapter Robhet Rebecca explained, this event was the grand final of three previous events and was attended by top bartenders from hotels and bars in Bali.
While Alex Eka Putro, Representative of Diageo Indonesia explained, the competition held by Diageo Indonesia opens the opportunities for participants to compete in international events.
Diageo Indonesia has several international events with Indonesia as one of the regions in Asia that often bring out world-class bartenders, especially from Bali and Jakarta.
At the same occasion, Chef Juna, one of the judges of Master Chef Indonesia who also presented as a special judge in this competition, said that there were some requirements for determining the winner including performance, communication skill, product delivery and the presentation.
Besides, he continued, the participants were given the freedom to choose the main course and cocktail to be displayed. The point is, Chef Juna said, participants must be able to make a perfect pairing.
As the final result, Komang Arlin Widiastuti from Kilo Bali and the only female finalist, finally won the prestigious MixoChef Mixologist Competition 2019. Arlin was awarded a trophy and IDR18 million of cash.
