DENPASAR, Bali (BPN) – Head of Bali Tourism I Putu Astawa denied the statement the Bali tourism will reopen by May or June. According to him, all tourism components in Bali currently focus on the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Bali Authorities and tourism stakeholders are currently focusing on handling the pandemic. The effort towards tourism recovery will be done if the pandemic ends,” said Putu Astawa on Monday.
Putu Astawa explained that his party never give the words to invite tourists in May or June, considering the current situation.
The programs to recover Bali tourism will be done after the pandemic is over. Thus he’s hoping that the pandemic will end soon, and economical condition will be like before the pandemic or even better.
“I hope people in Bali can obey government advisory on physical distancing so there will be no more confirmed cases especially the local transmission,” he said.
While Chairman of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) of Badung Regency IGAN Rai Surya Wijaya said the same thing that they are focusing on handling the pandemic.
“We’ll do our best to curb the spread of COVID-19 in Bali. So I hope the community can focus on the government advisory,” he said.
