DENPASAR, Bali (BPN) – All parties related to tourism in Bali are expected to seriously carry out the heath protocols in new normal since health and safety factors from the COVID-19 virus are very important to gain tourist’s trust. Thus, health protocol certification for tourism industries in Bali is a must on the tourism reopening.

Bali Deputy Governor Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardana Sukawati (Cok Ace) hoped that the certification can be implemented immediately, because the government plans to open new normal tourism on July 9, 2020.

“Before July 9, all tourism industries such as hotels, restaurants, tourism objects, transport, and travel agents should acquire the new normal protocol certification,” Cok Ace said in Denpasar, Monday.

According to Cok Ace, a penalty also should be given to those who are not applying the new normal protocols.

“All must be carried out seriously and strictly. We can’t let our guard down. Action should be taken if businessmen are found not applying the new normal protocols, if necessary, they should be prohibited from running the business,” Cok Ace explained.

Besides, Cok Ace also stressed that facilities must continue to be developed and improved, such as health facilities.

Cok Ace requested tourism associations in Bali to take responsibility for their members and make sure all members follow the protocols.

“You (tourism association) guarantee the members have implemented this protocol. For example, Indonesia Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) has confirmed that all hotels and restaurants implement the new normal protocol and certified,” he said.

Previously, Head of Bali Tourism Office Putu Astawa explained the stages of the new normal protocols for tourism industries Bali.

He stated that the certification aims to provide recognition that businesses have comprehensive safety and health aspects for customers and improve the competitiveness of tourism businesses in terms of products, services, and management.

Astawa explained that the certificate issuance form is provided by the Bali Tourism Office and can be downloaded at the official website.

Then an independent assessment should be done by submitting to the verification team of each association. The certificate will be issued after the verification team approves the feasibility of a business, and then ready to serve tourists in the new normal era.
