DENPASAR, Bali (BPN) – Deputy Governor of Bali Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardana Sukawati (Cok Ace) said that Bali Administration will prepare protocols for one of the island’s main products, the MICE Tourism.
According to Cok Ace, Bali has been one of the world’s best destinations for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) that supported by adequate room accommodations, meeting rooms, and of course, the friendliness of its people.
This was conveyed by Deputy Governor Cok Ace during a Webinar themed “Bali’s New Normal Series II, Road Map to Bali’s Next Normal (Is Bali ready for a MICE Business?), Thursday.
Cok Ace explained the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the postponement of several MICE activities that had been planned to be held in Bali such as the Asia Pacific City Summit and Mayors, International Conference on Human Rights and Human Dignity, and the World Climate Change Summit.
However, the COVID-19 has created a new culture called the “new normal” era. For Bali to take part in this new normal era, several requirements or protocols must be met, namely hygiene standards, health standards, and safety standards.
“In the future, to remain a favorite destination for MICE, Bali must be able to innovate and present something new. One of them is offering a new MICE concept like open-air meetings. Thus Bali can remain superior in terms of MICE tourism,” Cok Ace said.
Cok Ace believed that the combination of international standards health protocols, with Bali natural beauty and the friendliness of the people, will keep Bali as one of the best MICE destinations in the world.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Wishnutama Kusubandio in his remarks expressed his optimism that MICE tourism in Bali will revive.
For this reason, the SOP for health protocols in MICE tourism should be properly prepared.
According to Wishnutama, the first step is to formulate the new normal MICE protocols and combine it with innovations.
Wishnutama added, sanctions should also be prepared for the protocols’ violators. It will create a sense of security and comfort when visiting Bali, and then tourism will rise and MICE will become the core of foreign exchange in the tourism industry.
