Bali Switches Focus to Three Regencies where COVID-19 Local Transmission Number Increasing

DENPASAR, Bali (BPN) – Bali Governor Wayan Koster announced swab tests for people in Abuan Village, Bangli Regency, resulted in 275 negatives from COVID-19.

This was revealed when the governor followed a teleconference meeting with the National COVID-19 handling and prevention team, on Sunday.

At the meeting which was attended by the Chairman of the National COVID-19 Team Doni Monardo, Koster explained that previously there was news about 443 people in Abuan Village tested positive after following rapid test.

But, a repeated rapid test followed by the swab test resulted in 275 people negative from COVID-19.

“There are 139 people left, we’re still waiting for the swab test result. Hope they’re all also negative from COVID-19,” Koster said.

Wayan Koster also explained that in the meantime, the government will focus on three regencies in Bali.

“We are focusing on three regencies; Bangli, Karangasem, and Buleleng, because of the increasing number of local transmissions caused by the Indonesia Migrant Workers (PMI),” he said.

Koster further described that the number of PMI that has returned to Bali amounting to 11,800, and all of them have followed the rapid tested.

At the meeting, Koster also reported that the availability of food on the island is sufficient for the next six months

While for the traditional and modern market, Koster continued, are still allowed to open but with restricted working hours, and should follow the advisory to use face masks and physical distancing.

“The people’s movement in Bali is less than 10 percent because the customary villages give strict instructions for the community. Denpasar is slightly crowded, but we keep intensifying the restriction,” Koster said.
