KUTA, Bali (BPN) – The Indonesian Bartenter Association (ABI) made a breakthrough in terms of mixology in Bali by creating a competition called Mixtealogy in Kuta, on Monday, August 27. This competition requires bartenders to create cocktails and mocktails with tea as the main ingredient.
“This Mixtealogy competition is a place to lift tea as a lifestyle, like coffee. Currently in Bali, it is not yet as famous as in abroad countries which already mixing tea with alcoholic beverages,” said Robhet Rebecca, ABI Bali Chairperson.
According to Robhet, this event was also at the same time used as an arena to find talented bartenders, which then can be taken to a more prestigious level. The competition involved 26 participants, three of whom were from Surabaya (East Java), Yogyakarta and Bandung (West Java).
“The participants’ enthusiasm exceeds our expectations and hopefully it will continue to be better in the next competition,” he said.
Robhet said the winner of the competition based on balancing of taste, presentation, concept and composition, and communication skill. “This is the role of our association to make tea to be more famous and be more enjoyably,” he said.
In the future, Robhet continued, his side will hold a competition using local ingredients to support local products, such as arak and cocoa.
“We will also use Arak and cocoa as basic ingredients in the next competition. We do this to introduce our products to compete with the existing ones,” he concluded.
