JAKARTA (BPN) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recorded 734 Indonesians abroad has been confirmed positive from COVID-19, as of Sunday, May 10. Those Indonesian are spread in 33 countries and 20 cruises, according to Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi as quoted from BNPB press release.

Minister Retno detailed, from 734 confirmed cases, 321 are still under treatment, 372 recovered, and 41 dead.

Retno explained that the ministry has coordinated with Indonesia’s representatives abroad and the respected countries to ensure those confirmed Indonesians received proper medical attention.  

Besides, the government also sending basic and medical needs to Indonesian who still outside the country, amounting to 375,165 packages as of Sunday.

“The supports are delivered accordingly to the situation and the law in the respected country,” Minister Retno said in National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Office, Jakarta, on Monday.

Minister Retno said that the government has sent 334,369 packages of basic and medical needs for Indonesian lives in Malaysia. “The government thanked the Indonesian people organizations in Malaysia who have helped the govt representative in providing and distributing the needs,” Retno said.

The supports are also sent to the Middle East amounting to 19,083 packages, Europe 3,350 packages, Asia Pacific 5,240 packages, the United States 13,015 packages, and Africa 105 packages.

The minister said that the Indonesia Government have worked hard on the people’s protection. She also thanked Indonesian community groups that have worked together and helped each other during the pandemic.
