DENPASAR, Bali (BPN) – Bali Governor Wayan Koster invited regents and mayor on the island to work harder to handle and prevent the spread of COVID-19 so that Bali can be free from the virus by the end of May.
Koster revealed it at a coordination meeting with regents/mayor in Denpasar, Monday. Koster believed it can be achieved considering the growing recovery rate.
“I’m hoping by the end of May, there will be zero cases in Bali. No more people under treatment,” Koster said as quoted from the press release.
Governor Koster also asked authorities in Bali to take care of their region to the maximum extent possible so there will be no more confirmed cases.
“What local authorities should do is related to the effort to strengthen the community’s discipline especially to stop the local transmission,” he said.
As of May 11, 2020, the recovery rate from COVID-19 in Bali has reached 66.8 percent, with most of the process took 11 to 13 days.
Koster explained that the COVID-19 task force also works hard to curb additional confirmed cases in Bali.
“Even if we found a new confirmed case, at least the number should be lower than the recovery number,” Koster said.
If all can be done as planned, Koster believed that Bali can be free from COVID-19 in the next few weeks.
