JAKARTA (BPN) – Amid the Coronavirus pandemic, Bali is still considered as the best destination in the world. The latest, Bali is the world’s most popular island on Instagram.
The achievement is released by a German travel start-up, Tourlane, based on hashtags on Instagram. As a result, Bali is the world’s most popular island with 60,4733,066 hashtags.

The number surpassed hashtags of Ibiza, Spain, which ranked second with 16,320,328 hashtags, followed by Sicily, Italy, with 12,974,059 hashtags.
Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparerkaf) Wishnutama Kusubandio applaud the achievement of Bali as the most popular island in the world.
Wishnutama explained that Bali is famous for its nature, culture, and its unique traditions.
“The charm of Bali’s tradition, culture, and natural beauty with no doubt are the things that attract tourists traveling to the island. No wonder, Bali is very popular around the world,” Wishnutama said.
The minister further stated, there’s a homework waiting to be done. After the COVID-19 pandemic, the traveling trends will change and will be focusing on health and comfort destination.
“We’ll continue to improve ourselves in facing new travel trends, including the matter of handling waste, sanitation, hygiene, to comfort. The Balinese also already have awareness on clean tourism,” he said.
In regards to achievements, previously, Bali was included in the Top 24 of the World’s Best Destination 2017 by Tripadvisor.
Besides, several international sites and associations have also named Bali as the best such as Travel and Leisure, World Travel Awards, Conde Nast Traveler, to UNWTO Awards.
