Bali COVID-19 Update May 5, 2020: Six New Cases and One Recovery

DENPASAR, Bali (BPN) – Deputy Chairman of Bali COVID-19 Task Force Dewa Made Indra announced six new confirmed cases, as of Tuesday, April 5, bringing the total number to 277.

“There are six new confirmed cases, consist of two Indonesia Migrant Workers (PMI) and four local transmissions,” Dewa Indra said in his official statement, in Denpasar, Tuesday.

Dewa Indra also announced there is one recovered patient, bringing the total number to 160.

“As for the number of confirmed patients under treatment (active cases) amounting 113. They are treated in 10 hospitals and quarantine sites in Bali,” he said, adding there’s no report on a new death case.

The number of confirmed cases in Bali, Dewa Indra continued, mostly from the imported case, while local transmissions have reached 101 cases.

To curb the spreading of the virus, the communities are suggested to help and work together with the surveillance team of the Health Department in conducting contact tracing.

“This is to find those who have been in close contact with a confirmed patient, so we can handle them as soon as possible and to cut the virus spreading to more people,” Dewa Indra explained.

Nationally, the Indonesia Government recorded 484 new confirmed cases as of Tuesday, bringing the total number to 12,071.

The government spokesperson for COVID-19 Achamad Yurianto also announced additional recoveries by 243 people, bringing the total recovered patients to 2,197.

As for the death toll, Yuri explained, eight additional deaths recorded today, so the total number of fatalities has reached 872.
