Xiamen Airlines Resumes Flights from Mainland China to Bali

MANGUPURA, Bali (BPN) – China’s Xiamen Airlines resumed its Xiamen – Denpasar – Xiamen route for the first time after the Covid-19 pandemic on Friday (03/03). Xiamen Airlines became the first airline to open a route from Mainland China to Bali.

Handy Heryudhitiawan, General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport – Bali, expressed his optimism for the reopening of the route.

“This is a milestone for I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport – Bali, considering that in 2019 before the Covid-19 pandemic, Chinese tourists were one of the highest contributors to tourism for Bali,” said Handy.

On its first flight to Bali, Xiamen Airlines was greeted with a Water Salute and passengers received flower garlands and merchandise.

Xiamen Airlines flight CXA-891 landed at Bali Airport at 22.55 local time, carrying 142 passengers from Xiamen, China. The Boeing 738 type aircraft returned to Xiamen on the next day carrying 125 passengers.

“We are still waiting for proposals for new routes to China by several airlines. We are currently still discussing it with related parties, and we hope that by the end of this year, the routes to and from China can be resumed as before the pandemic,” said Handy.
