NUSA DUA, Bali (BPN) – Turkish Airlines finally opens its direct flight from Istanbul to world-famous holiday island, Bali, Indonesia, for seven frequencies per week. The flight which was inaugurated on Wednesday is expected to boost foreign tourist visits to Bali and Indonesia.
Orhan Birdal, Executive Commissioner of Turkish Airlines said that the opening of direct flights to Bali according is based on Bali’s ability in carrying out a unique cultural consistency and beautiful nature. Besides, Bali is a world-class destination. “We will take as many passengers as possible to Bali,” he said in a press conference on Thursday.
Orhan explained, the flights will be operated three times a week for July, while the daily flights began in August 2019. Turkish Airlines uses Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft with a capacity of 250 passengers.
Commenting on newly commenced Istanbul-Bali flights, Turkish Airlines Senior Vice President Sales (2nd Region) Kerem Sarp said, his side feels highly encouraged to launch new direct flights to farther destinations in the world.
“By inaugurating direct flights to Bali, our second destination in Indonesia, we keep strengthening our mission to reach all corners of the world,” he said.
Nia Niscaya, Marketing Deputy of Tourism Ministry said that the opening of Turkish Airlines flights has the potential to increase tourist arrivals from East Europe and the Nordic countries.
“Last year, tourist arrivals from Europe to Indonesia reached 2.1 million, this exceeded the target set by the government, namely, 2 million visits,” she explained.
Nia explained, in 2018, Bali was visited by 10,658 travelers from Turkey, and by far, until June 2019, there were 4,715 Turkish traveling to Bali.
This year, she continued, the Indonesian government targeting 2.5 million tourists from Europe. The opening of Turkish Airlines’ flights to Bali is expected to realize the target at the end of the year.
