NUSA DUA, Bali (BPN) – The Apurva Kempinski Bali continues to celebrate the ‘Anthology of Indonesian Music’. A continuation program after successfully being launched last month, this immersive musical experience returns today, featuring the highly acclaimed musician and author of ‘Anthology of Indonesian Music’ book Aksan Sjuman, the legend in Indonesia’s music industry Indra Lesmana, and esteemed artist Raul Renanda.

“The event is to introduce the contents of the Indonesian musical bible created by Aksan Sjuman and several well-known Indonesian musicians that contains music from the 1950s to 2000s. And all of that will be discussed at this event,” said Danti Yuliandari, Director of Marketing The Apurva Kempinski Bali.

Danti explained that this ‘Anthology of Indonesian Music Volume II’ took place on Friday 28 April 2023, at 18:00, located at L’Atelier by Cyril Kongo – The Apurva Kempinski Bali’s iconic bar.

With an evening filled with music and melody, this set features an intimate performance and encouraging talk show with Lesmana, Sjuman, and Renanda as they reveal the historical background of each song performed.

Aksan Sjuman, a well-known figure in the Indonesian music industry, said that the event is also a platform to introduce Indonesian music and song to the international stage.

“This is an opportunity for foreign guests to listen to our great songs since we also have great works (songs),” he said.

In addition, Nesia Ardi, Indonesia’s multitalented jazz-and-pop ecosystem performer, teacher, and arranger, steps onto the stage to bring over ten songs, together with Kevin Suwandhi the pianist, Gustu Brahmanta the drummer, Ucok the bassist, and Truedy the resort’s artist in residence.

Under the umbrella of the Jakarta Arts Council, ‘Anthology Music of Indonesia’ brought together the influential musicians Aksan Sjuman, Anto Hoed, Anusirwan, Otto Sidharta, Aisha Sudiarso-Pletscher, Anursiwan and Budi Utomo Prabowo, who classify the development of music in Indonesia and form it as Indonesia’s historical and musical bible. These esteemed profiles have composed two series of musical bibles.

The first series is titled ‘Anthology of Indonesian Classical Music: Vocal and Piano Seriosa’, formed in 2013, and the second series is named ‘Anthology of Indonesian Music: Jazz and Popular Music’, crafted in 2017.

These musical bibles provide a fairly complete narration in terms of giving a broad perspective on Indonesian music and are expected to be the source in observing the Indonesian musical trajectories over the course of history.

While at The Apurva Kempinski Bali, the celebration continues as guests are invited to explore the musical bible of ‘Anthology Music of Indonesia’ through a special performance by the artist in residence – Truedy – who will bring these musical notes to life every Saturday from 16:00 to 18:00 in the resort’s Pendopo Lobby.
