UBUD, Bali (BPN) – As a follow-up to the Bali Government circular, Bali Hotels Association (BHA) emphasized all its members to do a clean-up day to collect single-use plastics, on 30th September 2022.
Seres Springs Resort & Spa Singakerta, Ubud, took part in this activity and involved all senior management and associates members of the Resort.
This event also took place all across Bali on the same day and this was an important step for the people of Bali to strengthen their commitment to the cleanliness of the island.
A total of 48,5 kg of plastics were picked up. The debris was in different materials and the most common items collected were single-use plastics such as plastic bags, plastic bottles, straws, and snack plastics.
I Nyoman Prabawa, Director of Operations and General Manager of the Resort said, the Clean-up Day initiative aims to remove rubbish from the streets, public spaces, and also rivers.
“Today is more than just another cleanup, it’s part of our commitment together with our stakeholders in helping to raise awareness on the dangers of debris to our beautiful island and encourage people to do their part to passionately protect our environment by reducing their reliance on single-use plastics,” he said.
This clean-up event was an opportunity to reinforce the resort’s commitment to Tri Hita Karana, a Balinese Hindu Lifestyle philosophy that is all about maintaining a harmonious balance between mankind (Pawongan), the environment (Palemahan), and God Almighty (Parahyangan).
In terms of Environment Sustainability aspects, SereS Springs Resort already implementing a green concept such as a saving energy campaign by implementing an automatic switch-off of air-conditioning whenever the balcony glass sliding doors are opened.
A Waste Management system has been in place by providing separate garbage compartments to segregate its type of garbage such as plastic, organic, paper, used-cooking-oil including Hazardous and Toxic materials.
SereS Springs Resort also works together with vendors to take care of the garbage. As to Sewage Treatment Plan as well as Laundry Waste Treatment Plan, using the wastewater to maintain its landscape and garden. And also doing a regular laboratory check in order to monitor the quality of wastewater.
