UBUD, Bali (BPN) – The first large-scale solar panel for the electricity system in Ubud was installed at SenS Hotel & Spa + Conference Ubud Town Centre in February 2015. It has saved 3,500 watts of electrical energy, which equals a reduction of over C02 emissions annually.
In utmost consideration of corporate social responsibility toward energy consumption and conservation, additional investment in solar panels was made to address lighting requirements for all guest corridors, landscaped areas, and the main entry.
“Meaningful energy savings are already being achieved daily. Further, separate measures for refuse collection, disposal, and recycling have also been implemented consistently since all of the hotel’s rooms were completed in July 2015,” said Sven Remo, General Manager of SenS Hotel.
This is owned and operated by PT. Sutera Abadi, contributing to an expected saving of approximately USD 458.72/year.
The unstable fuel prices have affected tourism considerably for the past decades and alternative energy solutions will be needed to prosper in the future.
“SenS Hotel & Spa + Conference Ubud Town Centre has set a target to reduce of energy consumption by 2016 over actual of 2015. This will hopefully make SenS Hotel one of the most energy-efficient hotels on the island, especially in Ubud area,” Sven said.
