
NUSA DUA, Bali (BPN) – Hundreds of golfers from a number of countries gathered at Bali National Golf Club (BNGC) Nusa Dua, in a social fundraising golf tournament to be donated to earthquake victims in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). This is the 18th golf tournament charity held by Rotary Club Bali Nusa Dua (RCBND).
“The Rotary Club Bali Nusa Dua has a record in providing support for various charitable programs for the local community and Balinese people. This charity tournament collected around Rp.190 million which will be used to support and reconstruction efforts in Lombok,” Yulia Tori, as Owner / Manager of Tori Golf said on Monday.
While Karl-Heinz Schmelzer as the RC Bali Nusa Dua Golf Committee explained, for the last 25 years, RCBND has contributed significantly to various problems. Such as, the cleft lip surgery program, where RCBND provides surgery for cleft lip and palate for children in Bali and in a number of other islands.
“From 1994 to 1995, RCBND provided more than 1,650 surgeries for poor children and adolescents, with a total cost of up to Rp. 5 billion,” he said.
Regarding HIV/AIDS, RCBND works with local NGOs and health care authorities to address health problems among high-risk groups and communities.
Together with the Blood Transfusion Unit (UTD) Sanglah General Hospital, Rotary Club Bali and from all over the world also served millions of Indonesians, including millions of foreign tourists visiting Bali.
RCBND also cares in improving the teaching system in a number of remote schools in Bali and providing scholarships to children from poor family. Together with Puspadi Foundation Bali, since 1993 RCBND has also trained and assisted the disable and provided crutches for economically disadvantaged individuals in Bali.
