JAKARTA (BPN) – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo requested a more aggressive tracing of COVID-19 cases using advanced communication technology.

“For example, New Zealand uses digital diaries. Then South Korea is also developing mobile GPS for data tracking and monitoring,” President Jokowi said during a limited cabinet meeting regarding the acceleration of COVID-19 handling, at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Thursday.

President Jokowi also set a new target of COVID-19 specimen tests to 20,000 per day, after the country has reached the previous target of 10,000 tests a day.

“The next target is 20,000 tests per day. We have to start preparing for it,” he said as quoted from the press release.

Besides, President Joko Widodo also instructed the National COVID-19 Task to focus on three provinces that have an increasing number of new COVID-19 confirmed cases.

The three provinces are East Java, South Sulawesi, and South Kalimantan.

Related to the COVID-19 handling, Jokowi stressed the importance of improving and integrating one-data management, so that the policies made by the government can be taken quickly and accurately.
