JAKARTA (BPN) – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and US President Donald Trump have agreed to intensify cooperation in medical equipment.

The collaboration is an effort to overcome the shortage of medical and self-protection equipment for medical workers such as ventilators, APD (personal-protective-equipment), and face masks.

This was after President Jokowi held a conversation with President Trump by phone, on Friday, April 24, from the Bogor Presidential Palace.

President Trump explained the effort to produce ventilators in his country and said he will send it to Indonesia once it is ready.

While President Jokowi also appreciated the cooperation of the Indonesian Government and the U.S Government in the effort to handle COVID-19.

Besides, the two leaders also expressed their grief to each other of their citizens who were victims of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Furthermore, President Jokowi and President Trump also agreed to strengthen partnerships in trade and economics after the outbreak ends.

“Indonesia is an important country for the United States. We must continue to improve cooperation between the two countries,” President Trump said.
