Indonesia Records Highest Number of Foreign Tourists since Pandemic, Bali Records 246,504 Visits

JAKARTA (BPN) – Indonesia records 476,970 foreign tourists visiting in July 2022, which is the highest number since the pandemic.

“In July 2022, the number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia (reached the highest point) since the pandemic,” Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said as quoted from the official website of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf), Wednesday (09/07).

Sandiaga revealed that most foreign tourists came from five countries, namely Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, India, and the United States.

“Cumulatively, from January to July, the number of foreign tourist visits reached 1.2 million. The total increase is almost 15 times,” Sandiaga said.

The increase was triggered by the visa-on-arrival policy for foreign tourists, especially to Bali, where as of July 2022, foreign tourist visits to Bali have reached 246,504 visits.

“This is the highest number after the pandemic with the number of visits per day reaching nine thousand visits through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport and Benoa Port,” he said.
