SANUR, Bali (BPN) – ARTOTEL Sanur – Bali presents a joint art exhibition ‘ABSTRACT IS THE NEW REALISM’ by three contemporary artists: Donald Saluling, Sandy Tisa, and Fauzi Satyaputra.

This Art Exhibition will be open to the public from 8 July to 30 August 2023 at ARTSPACE, ARTOTEL Sanur – Bali.

The joint art exhibition presents works of art with abstract concepts adopted from relationships based on imagination or forms that have been seen, heard, or experienced. Usually, the criteria that have been used come from the artist’s side, not mimicking nature.

Donald Saluling graduated with Fine Arts and Graphic Design from Portland University, Portland, United States of America, presents an exploration of negative space in a non-representational way that plays a big role in his work.

After more than 10 years of work, Donald has carried out the process of creating spontaneously or drawing on location so that he learns to see, connect and record better to tell stories and convey them through the six works displayed in this exhibition.

Fauzi Satyaputra, a man who has a love for art and music, has exhibited his work overseas. Fauzi combines abstract and surreal styles.

Abstract represents a connection about what is in the brain, while the surreal appears as a symbol to help Fauzi convey a message to the audience. The inspiration style of his paintings comes from his point of view of what is in his brain.

Sandy Tisa’s understanding of abstract art is drawn from a personal realm into his work ideas, different from Donald and Fauzi.

Through his work this time, Sandy does not really in positioning himself in pure abstract art but Sandy expresses it through a composition of colors, lines, shapes, and textures that are presented as himself (non-representational/non-object) so that all the events are taken from moments that are expressed through visible form.

“It is a pleasure to be able to present another contemporary art exhibition. This time with an abstract theme. And on this occasion, ARTOTEL Group in particular always introduces Indonesian Fine Arts more broadly through the expression of the artist’s soul. We hope that this exhibition will be accepted and enjoyed by our guests,” Agus Ade Surya Wirawan, General Manager of ARTOTEL Sanur – Bali said.
