
Kuta, BALI (BPN) – Association Bartender Indonesian (ABI) with Diageo Indonesia held a bartender competition called Mixochef Mixologist which already entering Burst 2. At this stage, the competition was themed Hot Section, referring to kitchen section, where bartenders should apply food’s ingredients into alcoholic beverages.
“This competition challenges the bartenders to make drinks with different taste, and this time is by adopting ingridient or food from the kitchen’s hot section to be made a cocktail,” said Arey Barker, one of the judges, at Ocean 360 Beach Club Kuta, on Monday.
Arey added this competition is expected to stimulate bartender’s creativity to produce a different drink but tasty and can be enjoyed by both local and tourists.
Meanwhile Josep Maruli Oka, Senior Business Area Diageo Indonesia Bali, said this competition is the first in Indonesia.
“We want to challenge the bartender to use kitchen’s element in the drink with some qualification. Our goal is to make these bartenders to be recognized more not only in Indonesia or Asia but also world wide,” he said.
Chairman ABI Bali Robhet Rebecca said the Burst 2 phase was followed by 20 participants from Bali and Surabaya, East Java, where they will compete for top five position, with a total prize of IDR 23 million.
Those who are in the top five will further follow Burst 3 which will be held in March and then to follow best of the best in June for the title Best Captain.
