Bali Airport Welcomes Batik Air’s Inaugural Flight from Australia to Bali

MANGUPURA, Bali (BPN) – I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport – Bali welcomed the inaugural flight of an additional route from Perth, Australia, to Bali served by Batik Air. Upon arrival, the airplane received a water salute and flower garlands for the first passengers arrived, on Saturday (09/17/2022).

The Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft of Batik Air flew for 3 hours 19 minutes to land at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport – Bali at 10.38 Bali time, with 135 passengers from Perth – Australia, and according to the schedule for the next departing route to Kuala Lumpur at 12.04 carrying 111 passengers.

Handy Heryudhitiawan, General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport – Bali said, as a strategic route, Australia is again the choice to open a new route of the Batik Air, namely the Perth – Denpasar route which flies 4 times a week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

“Looking at the current trend at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport – Bali, the highest number of foreigner’s arrivals in January – August 2022 period are dominated by Australia with 277,034 passengers, then India 71,613 passengers, and the United Kingdom 61,070 passengers. Therefore, Batik Air is right to open its inaugural flight from Perth – Australia,” he said.

Furthermore, Handy said that from September 1st to 15th, 2022, the number of international passengers (arrival) exceeded the domestic; 305,447 international passengers and 302,974 domestic passengers.

“We are optimistic that passengers (arrival) can continue to grow while maintaining the government’s trust by carrying out existing regulations, in anticipating the spread of Covid-19 both from domestic and international entrances,” Handy said.
