“2020, 2021, and early 2022 were challenging years for all of us, but we managed to get through them. Starting from May, tourists have started arriving, 2022 is our year of change. Let’s welcome 2023 with a positive spirit to protect our beloved Ubud,” he said.

I Wayan Parka who chaired the anniversary event, explained that the theme Sunmeet was chosen because UHA wanted Ubud to be as colorful as before.

“We have been dealing with Covid-19 for two years. We hope that UHA can bring the revival spirit. Sunmeet is the meeting of the sun which will always shine regardless of the circumstances. That is the spirit of UHA that we want to create on this anniversary,” said Wayan Parka who is also the General Manager of Arkamara Dijiwa Ubud.

Wayan Parka said that the number “18” symbolizes the hope of all members to remain united and enthusiastic to bring triumphant Ubud back.

The series of this year’s UHA Anniversary was started on December 9 2022 by holding the Ubud Latte Art Competition (ULAC) and Ubud Chef Competition (UCC), as an effort to improve the quality of human resources.

The celebration was filled with the cutting of Tumpeng (cone-shaped rice served with assorted side dishes) by Dewantara as Chair of UHA, given to UHA Founder Pande Sutawan.

The founder, Pande Sutawan, said that Ubud had gone through the most difficult period, a period full of challenges for 2 years and 10 months.

“But we are able to get through it, let’s be grateful to God Almighty. Let’s do something for Ubud, to make Ubud better,” he said.
