DENPASAR, Bali (BPN) – In addition to its natural charm and cultural richness, Bali also offers a variety of events and festivals that are worth visiting.
The Head of the Bali Tourism Office, Tjok Bagus Pemayun, revealed that the Bali Calendar of Events for July – August 2024 begins with the Penglipuran Village Festival, which was opened on Thursday, July 4th.
Scheduled from July 4th to 7th, 2024, the Penglipuran Village Festival serves as a platform for the preservation of culture and environment, and provides opportunities for SMEs to innovate, thus enhancing prosperity while showcasing various cultural attractions.
Next is the Semarak Pandawa from July 5th to 7th, 2024. This event will feature music and dance performances, as well as a festival showcasing seaweed from Pandawa Beach, along with traditional Balinese cultural performances.
Following is the Bali Kite Festival on July 20th-21st, 2024, held at Sanur Beach and organized by the Bali Kite Art Community, which aims at enhancing the art and creativity of Balinese youth in kite-making.
In Gianyar Regency, the Mas Village Festival will also be held in July. This festival aims to promote Mas Village as a tourist destination, thereby boosting the economic potential and local wisdom of the village. The event includes various competitions, cultural performances, and SME exhibitions.
Events in August
August will kick off with the Ubud Village Jazz Festival (UVJF) in Gianyar. UVJF, born out of the idealism of the jazz community in Bali, not only serves as a music festival but also as an effort to create new tourist attractions in Bali.
Next is the Gianyar Kite Festival on August 4th, 2024, at Masceti Beach, Gianyar. This festival aims to provide a venue for kite enthusiasts to showcase their talents and creativity.
Moving to Sanur, the Rare Angon Kite Festival will be held from August 15th to 18th, 2024. This festival will feature both traditional and modern kites at Sanur Beach.
The Medewi Beach Festival will take place from August 9th to 11th, 2024, in Jembrana, west Bali. This festival, held annually, supports local tourism and features cultural attractions inspired by the value of the ocean to the Medewi community, encompassing ecological, cultural, economic, historical, religious, and health aspects.
In North Bali, the Lovina Festival will be held from August 9th to 11th, 2024. This festival focuses on advancements in arts and culture, and creative economy sectors, and commemorates the revival of tourism in Buleleng Regency. The festival will feature art and cultural performances, as well as Buleleng’s culinary specialties.
In Denpasar, the Bali Jani Festival will take place from August 14th to 20th, 2024, at the Bali Art Center. This annual arts festival, initiated by the Bali Cultural Office, serves as a platform for activities and creativity among artists in exploring, preserving, and developing modern Balinese cultural values.
Next is the Buleleng Development Festival (BDF) from August 15th to 24th, 2024, as part of the celebrations for Indonesia’s 78th Independence Day in Buleleng Regency. The BDF aims to build unity and prosperity for the people in Buleleng.
There are also sports tourism events not to be missed in August. One of them is the Independence Boxing Day on August 19th, 2024, at Finns Recreation Club, Canggu, Badung.
Then, Makepung Bupati Cup, August 2024, a boffola racing tradition at the All in One Circuit in Pengambengan, Jembrana. This festival aims to preserve the unique cultural tradition of Jembrana.
Next, the Kuta Maritime Festival 2024 at Kuta Beach. This event is one of the festivals aimed at developing marine tourism, especially in the Badung Regency.
Sanur Village Festival in August 2024. An annual event that showcases and provides space for various forms of creativity among Sanur Village’s community, as well as efforts to preserve the noble Hindu-Balinese cultural values. The festival will feature local and international artists, SMSEs bazaars, and other interesting programs.
Denpasar Kite Festival in Sanur, on August 31st – September 1st, 2024. This festival aims to provide a venue for kite enthusiasts in Denpasar to showcase their talents and creativity.
Next, the Ubud and Beyond Festival. This event is a landmark for showcasing the extent of innovation in Bali, featuring new works by artists from Ubud and beyond, including international artists, under the theme: Nature, Culture, Future, based on the concept of Tri Samaya (past, present, and future).
Then, the Celuk Jewelry Festival in August 2024. This event serves as a platform for promoting and selling the creative works of Celuk Village, including silver craftsmanship, culinary, fashion, and more.
Back in West Bali, tourists will be treated to the Jembrana Kite Festival in August 2024 at the All in One Circuit, Pengubengan, Jembrana. This festival is to celebrate the anniversary of Negara, featuring participants from both local and international.
In Gianyar, the Kendran Living Culture Festival in August 2024 aims to highlight the tourism potential of Kendran Village through professional presentation and the showcasing of its ancient traditions to the world.
This includes unique aspects like archaeological sites such as Nekara and sarcophagi, eleven water temples, and three palaces in Kendran Village.
