Megibung, an Ancient Culinary Tradition from Karangasem, Bali

KUTA, Bali (BPN) – Megibung is a tradition of eating together in one container originally from Karangasem, Bali. The uniqueness of a way of eating is full of the value of togetherness, strengthening friendships so that they get to know each other by exchanging opinions, stories, and discussions while eating meals with relatives.

Megibung tradition was introduced by the King of Karangasem in 1692 BC when he sat down to eat with his soldiers at a celebration.

To date, Balinese people still maintain and preserve this tradition, even megibung is also known as a way of eating in aristocratic style.

This special and meaningful menu is also a favorite at Bali Timbungan restaurant. Megibung menu is served in a container of Balinese Dulang with banana leaves and can be favored with 3 friends.

People can enjoy the Megibung menu at a special price that can only be found at Bali Timbungan, on Sunset Road, Kuta, during the month of Ramadan 2022.

Bali Timbungan has three branches. In Bali, it can be found on Sunset Road Kuta and Secret Garden Village Bedugul.

The newest branch is at Sarinah Mall, Jalan M.H. Thamrin, Central Jakarta that has been opened on April 4, 2022. Authentic Balinese dishes are very well received by the residents in Jakarta.
