UBUD, Bali (BPN) – The Café Lotus, the first restaurant in Ubud, celebrated its 40th anniversary with a bang on November 10, 2023. Themed “A Taste of History, Flavors, Traditions, and Memories”, the celebration was attended by distinguished guests from all walks of life.
Established in 1983 The Café Lotus which is part of Puri Saraswati Dijiwa Ubud as one of the hotel units managed by Dijiwa Sanctuaries, has become one of Bali’s culinary gems offering authentic flavors of traditional Balinese cuisine.
The 40th anniversary celebration is also a tribute to its founder, Anak Agung Arimas, who celebrates her 80th birthday on this remarkable occasion. Her unwavering dedication to preserving the essence of Balinese culinary traditions has been a source of inspiration for many.

This commitment to excellence was recognized with the prestigious “The Best Authentic Balinese Restaurant” award from the Exquisite Award 2023, an award that demonstrates the restaurant’s enduring commitment to authenticity and quality.

The grand celebration was spectacular, featuring a series of events that paid tribute to the restaurant’s heritage and Balinese culture. The evening began with an opening ceremony, followed by a traditional ceremonial ritual that was a testament to the restaurant’s strong Balinese roots.
The dinner showcased the restaurant’s culinary expertise, offering a range of delicious dishes that embodied the essence of Balinese cuisine. The celebration continued with a mesmerizing Balinese art and cultural performance, showcasing the island’s rich traditions.
Around 1000 distinguished guests attended the event, including the owners, owners’ families, members of the royal family, VIP guests, representatives from the media, friends and colleagues.
The diverse and distinguished guest list underscores the importance of The Café Lotus both in the local community and the wider world.
