DENPASAR, Bali (BPN) – One of Bali’s biggest festival Jatiluwih Festival, will again be held for the second time ever on September 14-15, 2018, at D’Uma Jatiluwih, Art & Cultural Hill, Tabanan. This year’s festival with the theme Matha Subak will focus on empowering the surrounding community.
According to Nengah Sutirtayasa, the Chairperson of the Festival Jatiluwih 2018 who also serves as Operational Manager of Jatiluwih, this event will involve both farmers and the community and to lift local potential, human resources and natural resources.
“The target of this festival is indeed to empower local communities, and not merely about tourism. Because the role of the community must exist, if not tourism itself will not run smoothly,” he said on a press conference on Wednesday.
Related to the theme, Sutirtayasa explained, this year’s theme is a form of gratitude to God, and hoping in the future Jatiluwih will become a sustainable tourism destination.
The event, which targets thousands of visitors, will showcase the collaboration of traditional and contemporary art and music, enlivened by the appearance of traditional artists and musicians, world music, jazz, and folk, on an amphitheater located in the middle of rice fields.
In addition, he said, there will be also performing arts of traditional and contemporary dance, also showcasing painting, sculpture, bamboo installation art and other local materials by architect Eko Prawoto with the bamboo activist community in Jatiluwih.
Last but not least, there will be also booths of culinary with various traditional food and snacks as well as Jatiluwih original handicrafts and commodities.
