BADUNG, Bali (BPN) – Heavy rain followed by strong wind in Bali in recent days have caused trees fall on people’s house or on the street. For this reason, Kompol I Ketut Sukarta, Head of Ops Unit of Badung Regional Police Ops, expecting the community to be aware of fallen trees.

“We keep monitoring the situation through the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), to anticipate disruption towards community’s safety and security, especially traffic,” I Ketut Sukarta explained while cutting down logs that disturbing traffic on Jalan Raya Lukluk, Mengwi, Badung, on Thursday.

As an effort to prevent potential damage caused by falling trees, Ketut Sukarta has coordinated with the Environmental Office of Badung Government to cut down branches and some trees that might fall due to heavy rain and strong wind.

“We have the agreement with relevant agencies, for the trees that are feared might fall to be immediately cut down. Especially those on the roadside,” said Sukarta.

In addition, the Badung Mitigation Agency (BPBD) also appealed to the community to cut down trees or its branches that might fall on their neighborhood.
