DENPASAR, Bali (BPN/PR) – Bali International Film Festival (Balinale) returns this year on 1-7 June at Cinépolis, Plaza Renon, Denpasar, and InterContinental Bali Sanur Resort where the festival aims to transform Sanur into a destination for global cinema and entertainment.
The opening movie on 1 June 2024 is Fly Me To The Moon (Hong Kong SAR) with Director Sasha Chuk and Producer Stanley Kwan.
Fly Me to the Moon tells the story of a little girl named Yuen who is reunited with her father in Hong Kong. The tragic feeling in Yuen’s family is that her childhood dreams are no longer the same as being reunited with her father.
Stanley Kwan is a renowned producer and director in the Hong Kong movie industry. Stanley is famously known for some of his classic films, one of them is Center Stage (1991) which had been digitally restored. Center Stage starring popular actors like Maggie Cheung, Tony Leung Kafai, and Karina Lau.
Balinale is Indonesia’s premier film festival with a 17-year history of screening hundreds of domestic and international films for thousands of film enthusiasts.
This year’s edition promises to continue its tradition of enlightening minds and opening hearts with a diverse and compelling selection of 60 films from 25 countries with 45 of them premieres.
In addition to film screenings, the event will also be enlivened by the Bali Film Forum which will talk about the future and economics of Asian cinema.
Balinale is recognized internationally for the diversity of its programming and demonstrates the power of film to drive cultural and commercial growth and development in Indonesia.
Associated events, workshops, and seminars include its annual Bali Film Forum where the event will delve into the multifaceted world of cinema with a distinguished panel of speakers, including government representatives at the forefront of legislation, investors, and philanthropists investing in the film industry, as well as producers and directors who represent the new wave in Asian cinema.
Balinale 2024 also to showcase six exceptional films that offer a glimpse into the vibrant world of Hong Kong cinema as part of the Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation.
For the third time, Balinale is associated with the Asian Film Awards Academy, which will present these films with a delegation of Hong Kong filmmakers
The festival holds the honor of receiving the endorsement of Indonesian National and Provincial Governments for its proven efforts in delivering cultural, political, and economic benefits to the country.
Balinale is known for its specialized knowledge and importance in promoting Indonesian cinema, art, and culture showcasing local stories, and encouraging the growth of the domestic creative industries.
