Bali Deputy Governor Expects Banks to Provide Soft Loans to Workers Affected by COVID-19

DENPASAR, Bali (BPN) – Bali Deputy Governor Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati (Cok Ace) who also Chairman of COVID-19’s Impact Handling and Recovery team, held a meeting to discuss efforts to stop the termination of employment (PHK) amid the outbreak of COVID-19.

Cok Ace also invited banks such as BI, BRI, BNI, BCA, and tourism associations to join the meeting, at the Bali Governor’s office on Monday.

At the meeting, Cok Ace said that he understood, the tourism sector currently facing a very difficult situation. But he hoped there will be no termination of employment, considering human resources is an asset.

The deputy governor expressed his worries that if the impact of COVID-19 cannot be managed properly, it will trigger other problems such as social problems, which will have an impact on the community’s security.

Therefore, Cok Ace hoped banks in Bali show some support by providing soft loans to tourism workers who are currently facing a difficult time.

Related to the mechanism, Cok Ace said that this idea should further be discussed by the banking and tourism industry.

The banking representatives presented at the meeting said that basically, they are ready to support the government programs in efforts to recover from COVID-19.

But in regards to the soft loans, it is the policy of their head office.

As a response, Deputy Governor Cok Ace hoped that the banking branch in Bali to immediately discuss the idea with each head office.
