Bali Authorities Agree to Quarantine Everyone Entering Bali

DENPASAR, Bali (BPN) – Bali Government agreed to quarantine those who entering Bali to cut the spread of COVID-19 on the island. It is agreed that confirmed COVID-19 patients are the responsibility of the Provincial Government. While the quarantine for negative-tested patients from the results of a rapid test conducted to Indonesian Migrant Worker (PMI), Cruise Crew, or general people at the entrances of Bali, will be the responsibility of regencies and city government.

This was stated by Bali Governor Wayan Koster after holding a meeting with regents and mayor in Bali on Monday, April 13.

“This means that those who tested negative will no longer be directed to self-isolation. However, in certain situations, such as early morning arrivals, they will be quarantined in the province’s sites first, then after tested negative, they will be directed to the regencies or city,” Wayan Koster said as quoted from the Government’s press release.

According to Governor Koster, this agreement also addresses the concerns of people in Bali that some Migrant Workers (PMI) might not be doing self-isolation in their respective homes as suggested.

Wayan Koster also authorized regions in Bali on the policy of the quarantine. Region’s administrations can utilize hotels, government-owned facilities, schools, and others.

During the quarantine, authorities conduct a swab test using the PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) method at Sanglah General Hospital.

Wayan Koster believes that Bali able to overcome this situation, by the fact most of the confirmed cases are imported cases.

Governor also stated that Bali is far from proposing a Large-Scale Social Distancing (PSBB) because PSBB is applied if a high number of cases occur in an area, the spreading is fast, and a high number of fatalities.

Referring to those conditions, Wayan Koster assures that Bali is far from PSBB since the number of local transmissions are very low.
