CANGGU, Bali (BPN) – The biggest bartender competition in Indonesia, The H Day Competitions 2023, held its final round at the Atlas Super Club on Tuesday (8/26/2023).
In the final, Alexsander Tara Hutagaol from Gozadera Surabaya emerged as the champion beating 9 other participants from 5 cities in Indonesia.
The fierce battle to be the best bartender could be seen since the first round, the Black Box round.
In this round, a box was presented in front of the participants that contained basic ingredients to create two types of cocktails within 10 minutes.
From this first round, 4 bartenders were immediately selected, namely Alexsander Tara Hutagaol (Gozadera Surabaya), Widianto Romansyah (Intercontinental Bandung), Dimas Rio Gaku (The Social Seminyak), and Gusti Ngurah Gde Jimmy (Savaya Bali) who managed to the next round called Speed and Accuracy Challenge.
At this final round, the four bartenders were challenged to create a classic gin-based cocktail.
Apart from their skills in mixing beverages, these bartenders were also judged for their proficiency in English and their ability to finish the beverage in a specified time.
“The judging is also based on smell, taste, and knowledge,” said Agung Dharmawan, Head Judge of The H-Day Final Competition 2023.
Agung explained that the classic cocktail was chosen as the theme since it is the basic cocktail for a bartender.
Meanwhile, a representative of H-Gin Yos Malelak, said that the event is a form of support for creating professional bartenders.
On the other hand, Dedy Martanto, Head of Marketing H-Gin, said that The H Day Competition 2023 is also for bartender regeneration in Indonesia and Bali in particular.
“Participants’ enthusiasm is incredible. This is beyond our predictions as organizers,” he said.
He also mentioned that similar events would continue to be held, but The H Day itself would be held regularly every 2 years.

1st place: Alexsander Tara Hutagaol – Gozadera Surabaya
2nd place: Widianto Romansyah – Intercontinental Bandung
3rd Place: Dimas Rio Gaku – The Social Seminyak
4th place: Gusti Ngurah Gde Jimmy – Savaya Bali.
